If you know us even a little, you’ve probably figured out that we love the outdoors — especially hiking and camping. So partnering with Harvest Hosts a few years ago was a natural fit. If you haven’t heard of them, Harvest Hosts is a membership club for RVers, offering unique overnight stays at more than 5,000 wineries, breweries, distilleries, farms, golf courses, and more. Campers pay a small annual fee, and all the host asks is that you support their business in some small way — usually by purchasing a bottle of wine, some cheese, a tasting, etc. Win, win, win!
It’s been a wonderful partnership for us. We’ve had the chance to meet great people and welcome new customers who might never have found us otherwise. In fact, one of our very first Harvest Host guests — a couple from Oregon — not only joined our wine club right away but even came with us on a recent trip to Croatia!
The variety of visitors is one of the best parts: we’ve hosted everything from retired RV adventurers to young families to digital nomads living that #vanlife dream. Personally, I especially love walking up to the winery in the morning and seeing a camper tucked into the vineyard — it gives me that cozy “I’m-on-a-camping-trip” feeling without ever leaving the hilltop.
From the camper’s perspective, the benefits are just as compelling. For one, there’s no stress about drinking and driving — you’re already parked for the night. And let’s be honest: there aren’t many last-minute camping options in this part of El Dorado County.
But the real magic?
Sunsets. Most of our regular tasting room visitors never get to see the incredible golden-hour glow over the vineyards and distant hills because we usually close before that. Our overnight guests, however, are treated to that show every night.
Wildlife. The evenings bring out the locals — turkeys, deer, and more. You’ll definitely hear them, and most likely spot them too.
Morning walks. Our road is actually called Leisure Lane (we didn’t make that up), and it’s the perfect peaceful walk — four miles roundtrip with a 300-foot drop to Pleasant Valley Road. Along the way, you’ll pass scenic parcels, oak woodlands, and even a sheep farm where you must pay the toll… to Stella the sheepdog, who insists on pets before letting you pass.
